Monchalee Steiger was born and raised in usually balmy Honolulu, Hawaii. She studied at
Mount Holyoke College and
Doshisha University and graduated with her Bachelor's Degree in Asian Studies, having focused on the language and culture of Japan. After graduation, she pursued careers in various media platforms, working in everything from television production on shows like
Lost and
Extreme Makeover, to digital media marketing and advertising at The Honolulu Advertiser (now
The Honolulu Star-Advertiser).
She is currently pursuing other opportunities in Japan.
